Through candid interviews with five sets of twins, this blog showcases their unique dynamics, from playful pranks to academic support. The stories reveal themes of healthy competition, mutual support, and the amusing mix-ups that come with being twins. The blog illustrates how having a twin sibling in school creates both challenges and advantages while emphasizing the supportive learning environment at Isha Vidhya's ten schools, where over 70 sets of twins currently study.

Having a sibling at the same school creates a welcoming atmosphere, and this experience becomes even more special when that sibling is a twin. When combined with caring teachers who are dedicated to making learning enjoyable, students feel more comfortable and confident in their school environment. We have over 70 twins studying across our ten schools, and in this blog, a few of them recount the mirth and advantages of learning together.

Rethik: “Being in the same class is annoying. When I make mischief, our teachers ask Rejitha to inform our mother. Rejitha always studies while traveling to school, and I constantly mock her, but she doesn’t mind. She helps me in my studies and corrects me when I make mistakes in spoken English.”

Rejitha: “I feel secure that Rethik is studying in the same class, and his notes are handy when I am absent. But I dislike it when he keeps grinning during a serious discussion. Sometimes, my friends wish they also had a twin when I narrate amusing incidents about us.”

Raajesh: “It cracks me up when Rakesh’s friends share secrets and jokes with me, thinking I’m him. He is my spitting image, and when I speak to him, I feel I am talking to myself. But it is not funny that I get pulled up for his mistakes.”

Rakesh: “The one thing I like most is people open up to us because we look alike. Last year, we got elected to the ATL president team because of our resemblance. We sit on the same bench in class, and sometimes teachers advise me, mistaking me for Raajesh. I am a bit lazy, but he helps me overcome it.”

Ranjith Kumar: “We study in different sections and seldom meet at school. We study independently at home but study math together as we love it. Although I seek her help to solve problems, she doesn’t. We constantly compete to outshine one another.”

Selva Ramya: “My desire to outscore Ranjith stimulates me. I find it more motivating to compare our scores than being compared to anyone else in class. He intentionally ignores me at school to irritate me and seldom confides in me, but during exams, we have each other’s back.”

Rakshya: “I feel content and secure that we are studying in the same school, especially because I am shy and reserved, while Rakshana is an extrovert. So, we complement each other well. Her smartness and outgoing nature help me participate in group activities.”

Rakshana: “I admire Rakshya’s competitiveness, discipline, and studiousness. It motivates me to match in step with her, but I find it hard to cope with her shyness. We are not identical twins, so it is hilarious how often our teachers mix up our names.”

Sree Sathvik: “Once, during the break, when questioned by the teacher, Sree Sathik pretended to be me and said he hadn’t completed the homework. Back in class, when she scolded me, I was perplexed. When I showed her my homework, we realized his prank. Being identical twins can sometimes be fun.”

Sree Sathik: “Sree Sathvik can be naughty. When he misplaces his book, he takes my book and inscribes his name on it. Once, we contemplated exchanging places in class and playing a prank on our teachers but dropped the plan in fear. I am grateful that we study on scholarships in the same school.”
