To build a community of farmers practicing chemical-free farming, state-level programs are organized, where farmers are trained in various concepts of natural farming.
Agriculture as it happens in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere in the world involves transaction, interaction and learning between one farmer and another. But for the last three decades, the majority of the farming population in Tamil Nadu has been practicing chemical farming. The traditional system of agriculture has been compromised and whatever set of practices given to the farmer involves the use of chemicals and pesticides. In situations where farmers are facing issues such as climate change or pest attack, the solutions available are also chemical-based. The harsh reality is that today there is no authority present that can offer direction or implementable solutions regarding chemical-free farming.
