Project GreenHands, pilot project of Cauvery Calling is a grassroots ecological initiative established by Isha Foundation, which aims to take corrective measures to increase the green cover, restore soil health and manage natural resources appropriately.
Our Vision To inspire people to plant trees, develop a culture of care towards the environment and re-establish their connection with nature.
Our Mission To increase the green cover of Tamil Nadu by 10% in order to reverse desertification, reduce soil erosion, restore self-sufficiency, recreate sustainability and survive climate change.
Through education, agro-forestry initiatives and most importantly, community participation, we aim to provide the necessary inspiration and support to plant 114 million trees in the shortest span of time possible.
Project Green Hands, pilot project of Cauvery Calling is involved in an array of rural and urban greening campaigns across Southern India, and has over the years partnered with corporates, schools, colleges, NGOs and the government in various environmental initiatives. PGH wants Tamil Nadu to be a beacon of environmental responsibility, illustrating what is possible when people take their future into their own hands and take action now to save their environment.
Our Green School Movement seeks to create "green consciousness" and build pride in the younger generation for being actors of environmental conservation by giving them due recognition of their participation.
